Customer Success Story – Poor Exam Revision Technique
Customer Success Story – Poor Exam Revision Technique
The Problem
The student, predicted to achieve grades 5-7 in GCSEs failed most of his mock exams despite working really hard.
He was very disappointed and said “I just can’t remember anything”.
The Cause
After assessing the student using my learning styles during a Discovery Session and exploring his revision technique, I identified that he was lacking in effective note-taking skills.
His notes were too long and hard to recall.
The Solution
We devised a note-taking system which was succinct, recording just 20% of the information to enable recall of the remaining 80%
He implemented a revision cycle where he revisited the notes multiple times to embed the learning and improve the recall.
He also completed past papers as part of the revision and exam preparation strategy
The Result
The student passed all his GCSEs with predicted grades or higher.
He has perfected his revision skills and is now studying A Levels.
The Takeaway
Overwhelmed students may require alternate exam revision techniques to enable them to remember information during the GCSEs.
