As parents we want the best for our children. We want them to succeed at school and beyond. The core to this success is understanding how they learn. Knowing how they learn gives them an unfair advantage over other students. They can begin to use the right study techniques for them, their confidence grows and success follows.
A discovery session is tailor made to help your child tap into their natural learning preferences. Perhaps understanding for the first time how learning can be fun.
Using the unique Brazenor method to identify learning styles, the session is not just informative, it can be life changing. Perhaps for the first time really understanding the meaning behind certain learning behaviour.
How we help:
This session can be face-to-face, or via a Zoom call which is run in a relaxed and informal way. You are welcome to be present, if your child agrees.
During the session we will explore the difficulties your child is facing with their learning and offer practical suggestions to begin to resolve the problem areas. By the end of the session, you and your child will have clearer strategies for managing school work and revision and a larger toolbox of tips and techniques to stop them feeling exam stress.

A 60 minute, fully interactive and personalised learning coaching session. Incorporating a full assessment of learning preferences using the Brazenor method.
On-line sessions reduce the need for travel and infact we have students as far away as California.
Working over zoom allows us to be fully Covid compliant and prevents the need to travel.
If face to face sessions are preferred these are carried out in Connective-Learning’s self-contained offices in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
At the end of the session suggestions will be made for future support. This can be via “The study success programme” or further 121 coaching.
The study success programme is suitable for students who are able to self study and for parents who want to play a supportive role. It is the most comprehensive programme on the market and the content is available to you ever green. Included in the programme are unlimited 121 coaching calls.
We may recommend a more tailored approach with further 121 coaching sessions. These sessions can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on what support would be the most beneficial for your child. Click here for more details.
There is no pressure to buy further support and the decision to carry on working with us is down to you. If we feel we are not the right fit for your requirements we will try to offer an alternative solution for you.
Learning styles are the preferred way that students absorb, process and retain new information. There are a number of different models of learning styles and at Connective Learning we use a model that focuses on the 4 main styles: Visual, Kinaesthetic, Audio Tonal and Audio Digital.
Visual learners learn best through processing information they can see. This includes pictures, infographics, mindmaps and flashcards.
Kinaesthetic learners learn best through processing information where they can be hands-on, practical and active. Examples might be learning times tables using buttons or learning about history by acting out a scene. Often better retention occurs for kinaesthetic learners if they can move around whilst processing information.
Audio tonal learners learn best through processing information that they hear. They may also need to discuss information for it to be understood and retained. They learn best from listening to podcasts and recordings, using rhyme and rhythm to help with retention of information and sometimes listening to music while they study.
Audio digital learners learn best through processing information that is logical and ordered. They can receive the information a variety of ways (visual, auditory or kinaesthetic) but they need it to be clear and make sense. Examples of helpful tools for audio digital learners include flow diagrams, tables, charts, lists and bullets.
When your child discovers how their brain learns, they understand how to learn more quickly, how to learn without forgetting information and how to achieve greater exam success without all the stress and pressure that leads to burn out and poor mental and physical health.
Life is more fun and learning becomes easier.
Depending on where you live they can be either online via zoom or face to face at my office in Maidenhead. (Covid restrictions allowing). The zoom call can be recorded and sent to you afterwards if you would like it to refer back too.
If possible, I encourage parents to be present for some of the meeting. This allows me to feedback what has been discussed. A full written report can be requested and will be provided within 5 working days at an additional fee of £50.
Unfortunately this is not possible. Each child will be unique and hence I work 121 on a discovery session to be able to focus 100% of my attention on one child’s learning ability.
This is dependant on what further support your child may need. For some the discovery session is confirmation they are doing all the right things. Others go onto the study success programme and others have a series of further 121 coaching sessions.
At the end of the discovery session I will discuss what the next steps could be for your child.
